The Complaint Letters Saturday, August 28, 2010,10:44 PM
A strange day indeed. The direction the day took from the very beginning diverted from the norm. To: My Life From: Daniel Strange Firstly, band practice started with Mr Tan speaking to us about, how times change. VSCB is most definitely changing in ways more than one, and this has adversely affected the objective of the band in the first place. We had a good one hour reminiscing about the band's past achievements, but most importantly, about our greatest blunders, and how the problem accumulated into the one which we have in our hands at the current moment. Invoking as it was, it revealed the flaws I had in me and I really want to change, but the solution isn't just going to drop from the tree, I am by no means Newton. However, I want to start taking measures now, and we have to start from the smallest problems first. We were supposed to have drills in the afternoon, but for some funny reason, the parade square had a few....speakers set up, dashing our chances. We changed the program to soccer, which I unexpectedly took part in, and made a fool of myself. A few moments later, we had a mini-exco meeting, making clear about the flaws of the band. Problems from the band are indeed many now, from discipline to playing skills, IT'S ALL NOT WORKING OUT, and a root of this is probably the exco, or part of it, for that matter. We have to set the example, but we are really hesitating too much. We need to be more decisive, exco! Including me as well, and start putting theories into practice. An eye-opening day for me today. Learn to lead, and lead to learn, all part and parcel of the Victorian package. We make mistakes, we learn from it. We reach a dead end in a maze, we learn to turn back and continue to trudge through to find the hidden goal at the core of it all. Every little thing we do, right or wrong, will lead us to our ultimate goal, and it will not come without a fight. Whatever the future lies we must take the chance. On a side note, did you know that Melodie Tan, the one who sung the duet with whatever Golmez his name was during the YOG closing ceremony at around the 1h20min mark, was our very own conductor's daughter. Shocking, I know. I was seriously taken aback. He did say his daughter was in the choir, but not this good. He must be a really proud father, congratulations, Mr Tan. I just hope the VSCB under our leadership will make him proud too and it depends on all our efforts to get it done. 'If you fear to lead, you have failed to lead.' - Tan Beng Wee Daniel

It's been a few days since my last post, but I did say not to expect anything didn't I? Anyway, here's the lowdown. To: My Life From: Daniel Long Time CA's have been going well ^^. The biggest joy is probably a friggin' A1 for all three sciences! Booya! This is the first I did so well for all three and did not screw up a single one. The topics were short but I feel like I did myself proud this time. Chinese was meh, just passed but I really want to get better at it. Other topics like Maths were pretty same same and English was surprisingly mediocre, thanks to the informative report being right after the grueling 'spam-and-don't-care-about-grammar' Social Studies paper and got a B4 in the end. If I'm right about my English attaining a B4, then my L1R5 for this term will turn up at a number 10, with English being the worst subject. Ok, here's a summary of my results. English - B4 Emaths - ?? Amaths - A2 Chemistry -A1 Physics -A1 Biology - A1 Social Studies - B4 Chinese - C5 AEP - A2. If all goes well, meaning my English gets a B4 and Emaths gets a A1, 10 points will be waiting for me at the other side of the rainbow~ On the other hand, SA2 is coming in about 6 week's time and it will be consisting of EVERYTHING that was taught in the year and more to come in the next term, so it's time to buck up and not relish on previous victories, another war is coming up, and we better start getting supplies. The match against Singapore ended about 20 minutes ago, and I must say it was quite disappointing right from the start. To: My Life From: Daniel Disappointing The players kept facing their backs against the Haiti players. Now, I'm not dissing their playing technique, but unless they have eyes on their backs, it's not going to work. Their footwork was rather shaky today as well and the ball was stolen from them more than the number of times my eyes blinked during the match. It was, truthfully speaking, sickening to watch from the very start and I gave up on the match at halftime. Final score, Singapore-0, Haiti-2. On a side note, I don't know why I'm posting but I haven't got the lyrics thing settled yet. It's due this Thursday but heck I'm not motivated to even move an inch right now. It was a rather strange day today. I plugged in my earphones (the good quality ones I got from Australia) and played FFIV on my DS in the car, and when I plugged them out, all I heard was my mom screaming at my Dad for whatever reason that I didn't catch (noise isolation ftw). And now after that stupid loss by Singapore, I have no mood for anything. Having to conduct tomorrow's morning assembly isn't doing wonders for my mood either. I don't know how I'm going to complete all the load I have right now. But for now, I'm really looking forward to CA marks tomorrow, no matter how good or bad they may be. Daniel

Don't you think it's funny when you give up on something just because you find it annoying and then you find yourself going back to it cos you kinda 'get this feelin' to do it again'? Meh, I don't know how long this will last, but I'll treat it as a hobby from now on. I'm not even going to convince myself I'm going to get any visitors or readers but hey, the blog is mine and the audience is me, done deal, how I do it and how anyone (if there's even any) react to it, I will not delete this :) Plain simple as that. To: My Life From: Daniel Life's kinda funny So from here on, expect the totally expected or nothing at all. There may a daily blog period, sometimes 2 times a year, but hey, 'whenever I feel like it' is a good enough summary for how I'm going to run this blog and I'm going to stick to it. Since I'm a totally normal student, I shall start by giving you an update on my lousy CA2 scores. I got a C5 for Chinese. Totally expected. Didn't do much effort to do it at all but hey, at least i didn't fail right? Haha, out of the class of 23, 10 people failed. I don't think I'm any different from a fail though, being at 57, it's a pretty risky position and chances of ESP are still there, so I'm crossing my fingers for this one. Found out our chem scores today too. 26/35 was what was written, but i checked the total for about 5 times just to convince myself and turns out the total was 28. Sweet! Then I found another mark I could get. Turns out the marking scheme allows a single 'petroleum' as the answer for the source for hydrogen. It didn't ask any method so 1 more mark for me for a total of 29/35. This brings my chem overall CA2 score to around 83. :) totally makes up for the lousy results in term 2. Hope everything will go well from now on. SA2 is just round the corner and band is just giving me a shitload to do. I have to complete the band tee design and get it approved by a certain Mr Ikhwan and the principal and get to printing the shirts during the September holidays with Ming Ren. Brochures, backdrop and stuff to be done for our 45th Anniversary concert in school in the late November and also planning for a day camp during November as well. What's more, juniors are giving me attitude and the teachers are just plain annoying. I just hope I can keep the standard and morale high during my leadership in CCA as well as personal leadership and as they say 'Just keep looking forward'. Daniel
