The Complaint Letters

Hooked

I've only started it recently, and barely through the first quarter of it, but I'm hooked onto Valkyria Chronicles, a PS3 game which I recently got as well.

It may have only been $39.90, but man is the content worth more than the value. Absolutely stunning visuals consisting of 3D Cell-shaded environments and characters with a vibrant pastel palette and add in cross-hatching for that more serious touch will instantly make anyone fall in love with the art and presentation of this game. The visuals of this game could potentially be the best anime, which is by no means a fault.

The battle system is also something really refreshing and never gets old. It's a SRPG, something like Disgaea, but without grids. The inclusion of a third-person shooter style gives the game a much more 'free' feel and deepens the enjoyment and the strategic value of your moves.

The characters are just ABSOLUTELY LOVELY. A varied cast with a spectrum of different individual personalities coupled with a love interest that I personally love as well ;] makes this game the favourite for me in terms of characters. The voice acting is also spectacular and spot-on, and it actually makes a [literally] gay character who blows up tanks very enjoyable to play as and listen to.

Seriously, this is my top game for the moment and I think I'm going to spend a lot more time than I should on it. Screw homework, I'll be content chionging it at the last minute if it means I have more time to play this game now. However, truthfully speaking, this is the only time I'm ever going to have free time left, so I might as well make an enjoyable use of it and have myself a blast.

If you see me having red-eyes, or just plain flunking my exams, you know what caused it ;].

OH hell

I've been having one hell of a week, and have been neglecting the site too lately, which I totally back up with the concrete excuse of being lazy. :3

News one, I guess is having 9 points for CA2 (3rd place in band. Jeremy - 7, Cheng Yu -8). Hell yea, but I was just 0.7 marks to 8 points thanks to English. Pity really. This places me in a very safe spot from parents' complaints ( they complaint about my English anyway), teachers' lectures and most of all, not worrying about bad results at the end of year as I've already set quite a firm foundation to let my SA2 sit on. Bringing up SA2, I'm determined to pull everything up one grade. Targets being Chinese, Chemistry, A maths and obviously AEP and Combined Humans. I'm aiming for a six for SA2 grades alone, I don't think that with my previous results that it's possible to attain, but I feel that if I work hard for the next 4 weeks or so, it may not stay a dream. Onward to 6!

Band has been giving me shit too. Suspension has started [woohoo]. But admin stuff has not ended yet sadly. I'm meeting the guy who'll be doing up our band tees tmr and I had to prepare a list of sizes and posts so that nothing will go wrong tomorrow. We also have sectionals tomorrow since we couldn't have one on Monday, but it clashes with my meeting with the guy -.- Is it a curse or what, every time I arrange to do admin stuff like choose pieces for our concert repertoire, compiling individuals list, distribute photos, and this time the band tee stuff, it always clashes with sectionals timing. It's pretty lame, but I'll just see it as bad luck? ._.

I've also started watching Japanese dramas. I've only watched 2 so far, and though they may be quite short, they are the funniest dramas I've ever seen, much better than the local shit you see on channel 5 or 8 or whatnot. A lot of it you can relate to too. Other than Nodame Cantabile, which I obviously love, I also recommend a recent favourite of mine - Nobuta wo Produce, or literally Producing Nobuta. The story is about a popular guy who is just putting up a facade in school to stay popular, but meets a weird guy and a bullied and unpopular girl. The guy decides to help the girl become popular and he works together with the weirdo to do so, and through their hilarious but very emotional journey, they find true friendship and develop themselves as people. I'm only halfway through the whole series, but I have to say it welled up a lot of emotion inside of me.

Cheers to another hellish week of homework =]
